Came here for a nice romantic evening with my wife. We did some omokase and fell in love with the chef's selections, presentation and demeanor.
This is a gold standard sushi place. Enjoy! -

My family had dinner at Geisha several months ago for my mom's 60th birthday. It was the wrong place for a momentous celebratory dinner--my parents stubbornly insisted on it because they knew the owners, and so we gave in, even though we wanted to treat them to more of a special occasion blowout, perhaps somewhere not inside the Aroma building.
Anyway, we had planned to go back, but the place has apparently closed. I kind of understand why. It was hidden away on an upper floor of a commercial Koreatown building, where it was, I believe, the only sit-down restaurant. The atmosphere was nice once you got inside, and service was very welcoming. But the price point was high, and the food was not so good that you'd pick Geisha over a similarly priced Japanese restaurant in a more intuitive location.
We all went with the omakase option, which came with a combination of sushi and prepared dishes. There were a lot of little bites--shiitake mushroom and scallops, bluefin toro tartare with osetra caviar, Kusshi oyster, Alaskan king crab, three-hour cooked abalone, and takowasa, I believe. We had yakitako, or grilled octopus, with potato, and black cod with miso. There were a few sushi courses with red snapper, seared toro, octopus, bluefin tuna, kanpachi, bonito, toro, and uni. I think there was a hand roll in there, too, though I forget what (read: can't tell from this old-ass picture I'm looking at on my phone). We had some kind of bibimbap, and some cheesecake--plain and green tea--for dessert.
The food was inconsistent, the sushi better than the prepared food. A lot of things came out too hot or too cold, which wasn't great. Geisha was definitely an odd venue for a 60th birthday dinner, but it might've been worth a visit on a less significant night. In any case, the place is closed now, so just wrapping up my Yelp review, nothing to see here. -

This place is changing the game for Japanese fine dining. Trust me when I say this, but this place has probably the best Japanese food that I've had in a very long time.
I love this kind of food and it's very rarely that I go, but now that I have one so close to where I live and the affordability of these dishes here is a winner.
We started off with a few appetizers and all dishes were really good. My favorite is the grilled octopus and never have I ever had octopus taste so soft and still maintain that grilled charcoal taste. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes and presentation on all dishes were great. I also really liked their eggplant dish and it came in fours, so perfect enough to fill us up. There is a very slight crab meat on top of the eggplant and there is no "eggplant" taste for people who don't prefer it! I loved the green onions on top as well, what a nice touch!
We also tried the sushi platter and I just about died and went to heaven. Every single piece was nicely seasoned and very fresh. Our favorite is the toro and tuna. You really just have to try it to give it your best judgment and if you like sushi, you definitely won't be disappointed.
Lastly, we tried the salmon clay pot rice and seafood udon. I personally am not a fan of rice, but when it comes to salmon I am a lover. The crispness of the rice and salmon mixed with seaweed was amazing. The udon soup was my favorite as the broth was creamy and tasted very well with the udon. This place did not cheap out on the seafood because clams were plentiful in there.
So glad I was able to try this place and the service here is great. Every once in a while, a waiter would come to clear our tables and we got our refills of our water without any trouble. The atmosphere of this place is really nice, as it is located on the second floor so if you sit by the window, you get a really nice view of Koreatown and LA.
If you want to impress a nice date or bring your parents on a nice dinner, you gotta try this place. Highly affordable with great service! -

In the heart of Korea town is this gem of a restaurant! It is in a mall, so it is a bit hidden but when you walk in, you walk into a beautiful sushi restaurant, greeted with a smile by a sweet hostess.
The hostess gave us menus and got our drinks right away. We then started our order and out came the amazing food! We started off with an Steamed egg which is basically soufflé egg with mussels, shrimp, and crab mixed in. It was wonderful. Then came out miso soup, and being that I'm not the soupy type, my wife enjoyed it lol. Then came out our assorted sushi plate which has an amazing assortment of sushi that basically melts in your mouth, and that I found out that the tuna comes from Spain. So crazy! Seriously, this is one of the best sushi plates I've ever had. After the assorted sushi, we had a side dish of grilled octopus. I was seriously blown away at this plate. I'm used to rubbery, stretchy octopus, but this was so easy to bite and eat! Not sure what they did, but I've never had octopus that is easy to eat til now! We then had a assorted sashimi bowl that had a beautiful presentation. My wife was hesitant to eat it cause it looked so nice lol! They brought out a plate of Alaskan crab with this little crab (that you can just eat! And it was so good!!!) and the crab was reallly good also! To end, we tried the Salmon Hijiki Bowl, which is rice with cooked salmon mixed in. It was realllly good! Then we had a creamy seafood udon. My wife fell in love with udon. She seriously loved the Udon (it was her first time). Then the best for last - cheesecake!! I love cheesecake and this did not fall short of my expectations at all!
I have to say, Geisha Sushi is legit sushi that went beyond my expectations! The sushi and sashimi is one of he best quality that I've ever had. It melts in your mouth as you eat it and that is amazing! All the food was amazing. The presentation was perfect, and service was top notch! This place totally was the perfect date night. Couldn't have asked for more.
If you're in the area, you Need to go check it out! You won't be disappointed! -

Came here for dineLA with very high expectations for Omakase since the pictures for their other omakase looked promising. It was a $49 fixed menu...and let me tell you how disappointing it was. This menu was worth probably $20 or less. I just ate here a few hours ago and I'm so disappointed that I am writing this review now. I normally never write a review this quickly.
It started off with a porridge? which was actually just pumpkin purée or something with a mochi ball in it. It was kind of like baby food. I enjoyed the salad dressing for the salad though. The next dish was 3 little things of veggies and I could've done without it honestly. There was the egg pudding thing that was pretty good.
The Sashimi came and this was the highlight of the meal. It peaked at this point and there was still halfway to go. The toro was really good.
After that it went terribly downhill. There was the yaki tako which was like half of a tentacle and the sauce was a carrot purée which could've done without it. The filet mignon was TINY and the eggplant purée was gross. I did not enjoy either dish. Then it was two pieces of sushi, one being bass...really?? Bass? This is too cheap of an option for a two piece sushi on omakase.
The final two things was a unagi hand roll and sweet rice punch as a dessert. SERIOUSLY?? There was nothing else to offer other than unagi. And my friends and I were expecting either mochi ice cream or green tea ice cream at the very least as a dessert. Disappointing.
It felt like we paid $50 for a bunch of side dishes. I would never have imagined an omakase to be like this. This restaurant does not have many reviews either and I expected it to have a great dineLA to encourage people to come. However this menu just made me never want to come again. It was a rip off.
Service was nice but my friend asked one of the ladies for a menu for the a la carte sushi and she basically ran away and never came back. Weird.
